Making my mark and working among Legends.

A few days earlier, I believe Thursday, i spoke with Mathalica M. about the upcoming event she was throwing involving worldwide recognized artist. The next day after work I started sketching what I knew showed strength and represented things most artist need, work with, and cant live with out.

On July 20th 2013 I became a part of art history. The day started off great with light wind causing a smooth delightful breeze. Temperature was about 87 degrees. The forecast called for a windy thunderstorm. Equipped with spray paint, and DSLR camera I arrived at 5pointz, the graffiti mecca/ NYC landmark ruffly around 1150 am & accompanied by Yoli A. of Yoli Body Decor. We was quickly and excitedly greeted by friendly smiling faces of Marthlica, Ralph, and Peter. The walls not yet painted and primed began to build more anticipation. Yoli and I left our bags with friends and took a trip to the corner store where we then ran in to our friend and FittedToMatch affiliated artist David (Don Rimx). Took no more than 10 minutes; grabbed what we needed then all headed back to "THE ARTIST PROCESS" location.

When we got back around the corner, the wall was painted and primed cotton candy pink. Meres than began outlining the phrase "THE ARTIST PROCESS". I didn't hesitate to ask if I could paint next to the project on a 30x30 space. He replied "sure, rock out". Marthalica then came to me with a proud demeanor and advised I quickly  paint prime then get to it. Another  artist early jumped in to assist with priming and wished me good luck. Butterflies began to fill my stomach, cheer and humbleness filled my heart yet doubt and nonacceptance snuck into my thoughts, "I'm I really at 5pointz, about to spray paint for the first time and next to these great artist?" I asked myself. It wasn't until I finished priming  that my fearless attitude kicked in full throttle. It was time, time to show my artistic versatility and declare my rightful spot in the art world.

.* THE ARTIST PROCESS:
-Created by Marthalicia Matarrita and Friends;
"The Artist Process"is a documentary in the lives of New York City artist. The purpose of creating these documentaries or such event is to educate those that are unaware and unfamiliar to the many artist that we have present in our life time, that are utilizing their talents for the betterment of today's youth. Those that participated in the 2009 summer "T.A.P."that was held in 5 POINTZ, Queens, can tell you how of a great impact it was for them and others to unite together and perform to the public.This time around, a new twist and idea came about to better help bring a closer view to how the artist see themselves and their art.Meet the ARTIST for the 2013 visual Showcase.*The mission of the mural is to work collectively with others, with the sounds provided by the musical performers and poets, as the b-boys and b-girls dance to the rhythm of both the spoken and harmony of the sounds/beats.
Hopefully the public can witness the love we have for what we do, and in return appreciate the struggles of the artist to help understand our need to keep the arts thriving and living, if not for our life time, but for our children's life time.
